There is no time more adequate to describe the beauty of West Virginia’s country roads then in the fall. The Mountain State is home to some of the most scenic drives you can experience any season of the year.

Below are a few scenic routes recommended by WV Tourism.
Route 48 and U.S. 219
U.S. 219 bolsters beautiful fall foliage along with some scenic West Virginia landmarks, such as Canaan Valley, Blackwater Falls State Park, and the Monongahela National Forest.
If you’re looking to hop out of the car there are also plenty of outlooks to visit for breath-taking views.
U.S. 119
This route will take you through the heart of West Virginia’s Mountaineer Country. Driving through Cooper’s Rock State Forest is sure to put you in a state of fall bliss with trees overhead in many areas.
Some destination on or near this route include: Prickett’s Fort State Park, Valley Falls State Park, and Tygart Lake State Park.
U.S. 19 and WV-Route-4
Fall foliage on the calm lake waters of Stonewall Resort are something every West Virginian should see once in their life.
